HANOVER, Ind. – Hanover men’s track & field senior Andrew Strong (Poland, Ind.) has been selected by the week-long interactive social media polls on Twitter as the Male Athlete of the Month for April.

Strong was recently named HCAC co-Most Valuable Runner for his efforts at the conference’s outdoor championships during the last weekend of April. The senior, who is the program’s first HCAC Outdoor Most Valuable Athlete, won the 110 and 400m hurdles at the league meet.

In the final conference meet of his collegiate career, Strong posted a personal-best time in the 110m hurdles, crossing the finish line at 15.95 seconds in the preliminary rounds. He then followed it up with a 16.22-second performance in the finals to take the top spot.

His efforts in the prelims of the 400m hurdles had him second heading into Day Two’s final run at 56.55 seconds. Strong then improved by .15 seconds in the finals to stand atop the podium.

The senior was also a member of both of Hanover’s relay units at the conference meet, the 4x100 and 4x400m, which placed third and second, respectively. Overall, Strong accumulated 34 points at the HCAC Outdoor Championships as Hanover tallied over 100 points as a team at the HCAC meet for the first time in program history.
