Men's swimming opens program's first season with fifth place finish at Indiana DIII Championships

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – For the first time in program history, the Hanover College men's swim team competed in an intercollegiate varsity meet at the Indiana DIII Championships hosted by Wabash College. Swimming in their inaugural season, the Panthers placed fifth out of seven teams with a total score of 90 points.

Leading the charge for the Red and Blue was junior Alex Maldeney (Fort Wayne, Ind.) who placed fourth overall in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.29 seconds. Maldeney also anchored the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Will Morgan (Lapel, Ind.), Jame Moll (Tipton, Ind.), and Louis Holbrook (Greenfield, Ind.) to a fifth-place finish in a time of 3:28.69.

Moll, Holbrook, and Maldeney were also joined by teammate Kyle Pfaffenberger (Seymour, Ind.) in the 200-yard medley relay which placed sixth overall.

DePauw University won the event with a combined team score of 811.5. The Panthers were third out of five HCAC schools in the competition.

Hanover will next compete on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Anderson University. The meet will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Bennett Natatorium on the campus of Anderson University.
