HANOVER, Ind. – The No. 14 Hanover women's soccer team closed out its regular season with a sweep of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference as they defeated the Defiance Yellow Jackets by a score of 6-0.

The Panthers (16-1-0) capped off their HCAC campaign with an unblemished 9-0-0 slate. The last time the Blue and Red went without a loss in the conference was the 2013, with an 8-0-1 mark. Additionally, the triumph made it 16 consecutive matches without a defeat, tying a program record also set in 2013.

The scoring began early for Hanover, as freshman Kelsey Hughes (Noblesville, Ind.) knocked one in at the seven minute mark. The Panthers quickly struck again, as senior Cassidy Evanson (Carmel, Ind.) scored one minute later off a dish from junior Brandi Brock (Cincinnati, Ohio). Brock, who has been heavily involved in the offense all season, extended the lead for the Blue and Red a short time later off a cross from Hughes. By the 15th minute, Hanover was up 3-0 on the scoreboard.

An own goal by Defiance helped the Panthers to a four-goal margin in the 34th minute before senior Leah Ellis (Floyd's Knobs, Ind.) widened the gap to five at the forty-minute mark. The Blue and Red would once again hit the back of the net in the first half, as junior Kayla Nowlin (Harrison, Ohio) connected two minutes later, capping the match scoring.

For the afternoon, Hanover outshot the Yellow Jackets 27-2, including an 18-0 margin in the first 45 minutes of action. Freshman Amanda Carmosino (Noblesville, Ind.) played close to 60 minutes, making two saves. Nowlin, along with freshman Autumn Boothby (Mount Orab, Ohio) paced the Panthers with four shots each.

With their closeout today, the Blue and Red posted the first unbeaten record in the HCAC since the Franklin Grizzlies went 7-0-2 in the 2014 season.

Hanover will see its next contest on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m., when they host Anderson in the semifinal round of the conference tournament.
