HANOVER, Ind.—It was a day of firsts for the Hanover College women's cross country team as they took home the team title in the Hanover Invitational for the first time since 2012.

Led by freshman Arig Tong (Columbus, Ind.) the red and blue scored 26 points, just edging out defending champions IU-East by five points.

Tong took the lead early in the race and never looked back en route to her first collegiate victory with a time of 21:11.9 for the five kilometer course. Just three spots back was sophomore Ariel Barlow (Francesville, Ind.) who also dipped under the 22-minute mark with a time of 21:59.3.

The rest of the top five was made up of freshmen runners competing in their first collegiate race. Brianna Medcalf (Central, Ind.), Zoe Adams (Louisville, Ky) and Logan McRoberts (Hagerstown, Ind.) place sixth through eighth respectively, all finishing in under 23-minutes.

Three Hanover alumni runners also completed the race and were led by Annie Titchenal ('16) who placed sixth overall.

The Panthers will be back in action on September 15 in Westerville, OH at the Otterbein Invitational. The meet is scheduled for 10:45 a.m.
