HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover men's basketball team travels to St. Louis, Mo. for the Webster Classic hosted by Webster University on Friday, Nov. 22 and Saturday, Nov. 23.
SETTING THE SCENE: The Blue and Red will open the weekend with Westminster (Mo.) at 7:00 PM Friday night. Hanover will then square off with tournament host Webster (Mo.) at 4:00 PM Saturday.
SUCCESSFUL HOME OPENER: The Panthers are coming off a 115-53, home-opening victory over Boyce this past Tuesday evening inside Collier Arena. The home-opening win is the 10th consecutive triumph in a home opener.
BALANCED ATTACK: In the team's first two contest, the Panthers have used a balance attack with four different players averaging 10.0 ppg or better. Leading the charge is junior Mark Albers (Pendleton, Ind.) averaging 16.0 ppg after netting a game-high 20 points against Boyce. Joining him with double digit scoring are teammates junior Connor Washburn (Fishers, Ind.), junior Isaac Hibbard (New Albany, Ind.), and freshman Jack Wininger (Elnora, Ind.).
BENCH POINTS: The Panthers had a lot of success off the bench on Tuesday evening getting 61 points from their bench with three players tallying double digit feats in sophomore Carlos Garcia (Mason, Ohio), sophomore Christian Stewart (Clarksville, Ind.), and Wininger. Garcia fired on all-cylinders as he went 3-for-4 from three-point while shooting 75 percent from the floor.
DEFENSIVE EFFORTS: The Blue and Red forced 17 Bulldog turnovers capitalizing for 32 total points. HC registered nine steals led by Albers with three steals while Hibbard and senior Blake Robertson (Greenfield, Ind.) both grabbed two apiece.
UP NEXT: The Panthers return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 4 when they open Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action with Franklin. Tipp-off from Collier Arena is set for 7:30 PM.
