JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. – The Hanover men's soccer team used a second half surge en route to a 1-1 double overtime tie with the Spalding Golden Eagles on Friday afternoon.
Hanover (2-4-1 overall) finished the game with a game-high 18 shots, six of which were on frame. Sophomore Carlos Schryver (Sao Paulo, Brazil) led the way for the Blue and Red with the game tying goal.
Spalding scored first in the contest as the Blue and Gold found the back of the net in the 19th minute off a corner kick.
The Panthers opened the second half strong as junior Josh Hughes (Lafayette, La.) put a shot on frame that was saved by the Spalding keeper. Hanover continued to pressure the Golden Eagle defense tying the game at 1-1 in the 80th minute off a Schryver goal.
In overtime both teams struggled to gain grown as one shot was taken between the two teams.
The Panthers return to action on Sunday, September 29 as they play host to Capital. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM.
