HANOVER, Ind. - The Panther men's swimming & diving team concluded the regular season with one final Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tune-up welcoming Rose-Hulman to Southwestern High School. The Blue and Red fell in the meet by a score of 200-102.
The 1,000-yard freestyle saw Hanover capture the top two spots with freshman Alex Dafforn (Indianapolis, Ind.) winning the event in a time of 11:12.79. Teammate, freshman Andrew Lee (Greenwood, Ind.) finished second in the event in a time of 11:34.66.
The success in the pool continued for the Blue and Red as they dominated the 50-yard breaststroke sweeping the top two spots. Winning the event was sophomore Kyle Pfaffenberger (Seymour, Ind.) touching the wall in a time of 31.19, followed by teammate sophomore Nathan Cooper (Amelia, Ohio) in second with a time of 33.65.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Lee captured a second place mark with a time of 54.08. Sophomore James Moll (Tipton, Ind.) finished runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke touching the wall with a time of 59.95.
Pfaffenberger also swam an impressive race as part of the 100-yard breaststroke taking second with a time of 1:08.63, followed by sophomore Will Morgan (Lapel, Ind.) in third in a time of 1:09.31 and Cooper in fourth with a time of 1:12.35.
Sophomore Davis Guthier (Fort Thomas, Ky.) notched a runner-up finish in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:26.00, while teammate senior Alex Maldeney (Fort Wayne, Ind.) placed second in the 50-yard butterfly swimming the length of the pool in a time of 24.73.
The 200-yard IM saw Dafforn finish second with a time of 2:14.66. The team of Maldeney, Moll, freshman Keegan Marx (Evansville, Ind.) and Morgan rounded out the dual for Hanover taking second in a time of 1:31.45.
Hanover returns to action on Thursday, February 13 through Saturday, February 15 when they compete as part of the HCAC Championships hosted in Terre Haute, Ind.
