TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Hanover senior Hayden Veach (Shelbyville, Ind.) earned All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors with a second-place finish on Sunday afternoon at the 2019 HCAC Championship Meet held at LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course.
Veach, who ran a strong race for the Panthers, finished the eight-kilometer course with a time of 26:51 for a runner-up finish. The senior crossed the finish line just 10 seconds shy of the race winner from Manchester.
The Blue and Red finished among the top half of the HCAC with 117 points, securing the fourth-place spot. Winning the Meet was Manchester with 46 points, while Rose-Hulman took second with 49 points.
Sophomore Cooper Hanson (Greenfield, Ind.) finished just shy of All-HCAC honorable mention honors as he placed 22nd overall with a time of 28:20, followed by teammate freshman Michael Taylor (Anderson, Ind.) in 24th place with a time of 28:36.
Rounding out the scoring for Hanover were junior Andy Vilardo (Bloomington, Ind.), junior Andrew Clegg (Indinapolis, Ind.), and freshman Robert Hoegeman (Monroe, Ohio). Vilardo turned in a 31st place finish with a time of 28:59, while Clegg and Hoegeman finished 38th and 48th respectively.
With the Conference meet complete, the Blue and Red will set their sights on the Great Lakes Regional meet in two weeks. The race is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16 and will be held at the Calvin College Gainey Athletic Complex.
