HANOVER, Ind. – In a back-and-forth affair at Alumni Stadium, the Hanover women's lacrosse team fell to Saint Vincent (Pa.) in the regular season finale by a tally of 15-14.

The Panthers (11-6, 8-3 ORLC) were led in scoring by senior Mallory Fogus (Grosse Ile, Mich.) who registered six goals and added an assist on the day. Sophomore Emma Boomershine (Louisville, Ky.) added four second-half scores and assisted on Fogus's game-opening goal.

Meanwhile, sophomore Rachel Davis (Indianapolis, Ind.) beat her own single-game program record for assists, recording eight dimes including five in the first half. Davis previously set the mark at five dishes twice this spring.

The contest was defined by a series of runs from the outset. Two early goals by Fogus and sophomore Meg Finn (Newburg, Ind.) gave the Blue and Red a 2-0 lead just over three minutes into game action. After a 6-0 run by St. Vincent (12-3, 9-2 ORLC), Hanover responded with a 4-1 run in the last 12 minutes of the opening half, closing its deficit to 7-6. Along with a pair of scores from Fogus, sophomore Kinna Laymon (Fishers, Ind.) and junior Hannah Mundt (Prospect, Ky.) each added their lone goals on the afternoon to bolster the frame-ending scoring barrage.

HC started the second half much as they had ended it, going on a 4-1 run to open it up. Fogus scored the first trio following the intermission, with Davis picking up all three assists. Boomershine followed with her first goal of the day less than a minute later as HC led 10-8 with 21:41 left to play.

The Blue and Red traded goals with the Bearcats for the ensuing 10 minutes, and after Finn found the back of the net for a second time, the Panthers led 14-11 with a shade under 10 to play. However, Saint Vincent then went on a four-goal run in the final eight minutes from which Hanover could not recover.

Senior goalkeeper Amanda Mousa (Springboro, Ohio) amassed 13 saves. The senior now has five games with double-digit stops, including each of the last three contests in which she has played a complete game in the net.

Defensively, senior Cassidy Coates (Evansville, Ind.) topped HC with three caused turnovers, while Mundt and Mousa each fielded four groundballs to pace the squad. Fogus won seven draw controls to lead the team, while Finn followed closely behind with six.

For the matchup, the Blue and Red outshot St. Vincent 41-31 and outnumbered them in draw controls by a mark of 19-12. However, the Panthers were just one-of-nine in free position shots, which was under their season percentage of .297. Meanwhile, the Bearcats went six-of-nine in those situations.

With the loss, Hanover will be seeded fourth for the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference tournament and will travel to face top-seeded Transylvania (Ky.) at 1 p.m., Friday, May 4. The winner of their matchup will go on to face the winner of the other semifinal game between Washington and Jefferson (Pa.) and Saint Vincent at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 5.
